Police authorities have apprehended an individual named Meshack Sinuphro, who is accused of absconding with a Benz GLB 250 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The suspect, who disguised himself as a potential buyer, managed to flee with the vehicle during a test drive with car dealer Mohammed Manga in Abuja last week. However, the car, valued at N55 million, was successfully located and recovered in Delta State on Tuesday.
The suspect allegedly abandoned the vehicle in a remote area. Following an extensive search, Meshack Sinuphro, who had previously been declared wanted, was apprehended in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Thursday. The arrest was confirmed by the Edo Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Udafe, in a tweet posted on his official Twitter account on Thursday evening.
DSP Udafe stated, “The Command Decoy Squad apprehended the suspect, Meshack Sinuphro, today in Benin City. He is accused of stealing the Benz in Abuja while posing as a buyer.
The suspect will be transferred to the FCT command in the near future. Always report crimes to the police, and we will consistently ensure justice is served.”
