The Uganda High Commission in London hosts the 61st Independence Anniversary

London, UK | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Ugandan community, embassy officials, and development partners came together in a vibrant event at the High Commission in London to celebrate Uganda’s 61st anniversary. This momentous occasion highlighted Uganda’s rich history, cultural diversity, patriotic spirit, and resilience, which have enabled the “Pearl of Africa” to overcome challenges and evolve over the past six decades, resulting in lasting peace, steady progress, and prosperity.

Her Excellency Nimisha Madhvani, the Uganda High Commissioner, addressed the audience, commending their patriotism and emphasizing the vital role of the diaspora in Uganda’s development. She urged Ugandans to collaborate, invest in their homeland, and innovate to foster unity and progress.

The development partners were warmly welcomed and acknowledged the peaceful nature of Ugandans. They encouraged unity and emphasized the importance of focusing on business growth to contribute to economic development.


Keynote speeches also highlighted the vast investment and business opportunities in Uganda, particularly in sectors such as tourism, oil and gas, mining, energy, agriculture, among others.

In summary, the Uganda Independence Day celebration in London served as a special moment to reflect on the meaningful partnerships between Uganda and the UK.
