Led by Chef Sentie Kironde, a prominent Ugandan chef based in Boston, the Ugandan stand at Union Station drew in crowds eager to savor the country’s iconic dishes. From steamed fresh matooke to katogo of roasted goat meat stew, the menu presented a tantalizing array of flavors. Vegans were treated to steamed groundnut luwombo, while everyone enjoyed the brewed Ugandan coffee and Uganda Waragi sundowner cocktails.

The event, supported by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID), served as a platform to showcase Ugandan excellence. Producers like Uganda Breweries Limited and ORONCAFE contributed their finest offerings, reinforcing Uganda Waragi’s status as a premium gin deeply rooted in the nation’s cultural heritage.

Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries, highlighted the significance of Uganda Waragi in representing the spirit of Uganda on a global stage. Beyond the culinary delights, the event fostered cultural exchange, forging connections between Ugandan diaspora communities and showcasing the country’s commercial prowess.

The DC Embassy Chef Challenge, an annual affair backed by the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACIED), stands as a testament to the power of gastronomy in diplomacy and cultural exchange.
