A 42-year-old woman, identified as Rose Nsungwa, has been handed a seven-year prison sentence for her involvement in aggravated child trafficking, which led to a disturbing situation involving a minor. The case unfolded when Nsungwa exploited her role as a housemaid to orchestrate a disturbing connection between her brother and a 15-year-old girl, who was a student at Victory Primary School.
Allegedly, Nsungwa misused her position to facilitate a romantic liaison between her brother and the young girl. It has been reported that Nsungwa, operating out of their residence on Prince Charles Drive in Kololo, arranged for the girl to be transported from her home to Fort Portal, where her brother resided at the time.
The court proceedings revealed that Nsungwa’s brother provided 60,000 Shillings through mobile money to cover the transportation expenses for the girl, who departed on March 12, 2021, using Link Bus services to reach Fort Portal.
Upon reaching her destination, the accused’s brother, identified only as Tom, received the girl at the bus terminal and proceeded to engage in a series of inappropriate acts over a span of four days.
The matter came to light when the missing girl’s concerned grandmother reported her absence. In response, Nsungwa reportedly informed her brother about the ongoing search efforts. In a turn of events, Tom provided the girl with 30,000 Shillings to return to Kampala, subsequently disappearing himself.

Stranded and unfamiliar with her surroundings, the distressed girl contacted her father, who promptly retrieved her from Fort Portal. After reuniting with her family, the victim disclosed the unsettling events she had endured. Following this revelation, on March 24, 2021, a medical examination was conducted to corroborate her account.
The legal proceedings progressed, leading to Nsungwa’s arrest and subsequent appearance before the City Hall Court. Later, the case was transferred to the International Crimes Division, where Nsungwa faced the full extent of the law.
In a court session held this afternoon, Justice Richard Wejuli Wabwire, presiding over the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kampala, delivered a verdict that sentenced Nsungwa to seven years in prison. This outcome emerged from a plea bargain agreement orchestrated between Nsungwa’s legal representation and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, with State Attorney Joseph Kyomuhendo representing the prosecution’s interests.
