Airtel Uganda on the Spot over Invalid Lines

Summary:

  • Airtel Uganda is under scrutiny as customers report issues with invalid lines and registration problems

Airtel Uganda, one of the leading telecom providers in the country, is under scrutiny as customers report issues with invalid lines and registration problems on popular messaging platform WhatsApp. The telecom giant is facing mounting pressure to address the concerns of its subscribers who have been unable to register their numbers on WhatsApp and face restrictions on incoming calls from competitors.

Numerous Airtel Uganda subscribers have encountered difficulties registering their numbers on WhatsApp. Despite repeated attempts, users receive an error message indicating that their numbers are invalid for the country, leaving them frustrated and disconnected from essential communication channels.

Ivan Tumwesige, a resident of Hoima, expressed his frustration, stating, “I rely on WhatsApp to stay connected with clients, family and colleagues. It’s disappointing that Airtel hasn’t resolved this issue despite numerous complaints.”

Customers have reached out to Airtel Uganda’s customer service department via social media and calls, seeking assistance with the WhatsApp registration problem. However, many report a lack of response from the telecom company, exacerbating the frustration and inconvenience faced by subscribers.

Sarah Namubiru, a small business owner, told Examiner, “I’ve been trying to contact Airtel’s customer service for over a month now, but I haven’t received any reply. It’s unacceptable that they ignore their customers’ concerns.”

In addition to the WhatsApp registration issue, Airtel Uganda customers are experiencing restrictions, numbers of rival networks can’t call them. This limitation impedes communication between Airtel subscribers and those using rival networks, such as MTN.

Despite repeated attempts to seek clarification and resolution from Airtel Uganda, the company has not issued an official statement addressing the reported issues. Customers are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of communication and transparency from the telecom provider.

Even the numbers starting with 02xxxxxxx are greatly affected, including those of this publication. Despite numerous attempts to reach Airtel via different channels, there has been no reply

As Airtel Uganda grapples with complaints regarding invalid lines, WhatsApp registration problems, and communication restrictions with competitors, customers are left disillusioned and dissatisfied. The telecom company faces mounting pressure to acknowledge and rectify these issues promptly to restore trust and ensure seamless connectivity for its subscribers across Uganda.
