Kikuube District | The Black Examiner – The Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Samuel Kahuma has asked the people of Kikuube to prepare and position themselves to tap into opportunities that will accrue from the oil and gas sector.
While preaching to Christians who gathered at Kaseeta Church of Uganda in Kabwoya sub county on Wednesday, Kahuma said it is time for Ugandans to prepare and massively invest in the oil and gas sector to benefit from the available opportunities.
Bishop Kahuma says despite an enabling legal framework for the participation of Ugandans in oil and gas activities put in place by the government, many people in the region are not bothered to take up the available opportunities.
The bishop tasked the people of Kikuube to heavily get involved in agriculture that will help feed people who will flock the region to work in the oil and gas sector noting that people should not just sit and see thinking that oil money will be wired into their pockets.
Bishop Kahuma has further challenged Christians in the area to embrace peace, unity and reconciliation in order to foster development saying any forms of divisionism will only deter development.
He too stressed the need for hard work among Christians in order to improve on their household incomes.
Rev. Simon Kyaligonza, the Parish Priest Kaseeta Church of Uganda called on Christians in the area to remain united and focused to develop church projects.
