The Bududa police are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the death and robbery of a 63-year-old businessman named Gregory Watenga. His lifeless body was found dumped in the bushes late on Wednesday night. Watenga, a resident of Shisakali village in Bukobero parish, Buwali sub-county, Bududa district, was deeply involved in the coffee trade, primarily operating in Renyeri village, Renyeri parish, Bundesi sub-county.

Residents stumbled upon Watenga’s body, lying in a pool of blood, approximately 25 meters away from a village path in a trench. The discovery was made the morning after he had supplied coffee earlier on Wednesday. It was revealed that he had collected an undisclosed sum of money from a trader in Kuwushu Town Council. Concerns arose when Watenga failed to return as expected.

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident. He stated that the businessman was likely murdered in a different location before his body was moved to the spot where it was found. The case has been formally reported to the Bukalasi police station under Case Reference: 04/06/12/2023.
