Masaka People are yet to come to terms as grasshoppers (Nsenene) shift to Kalukutu in Ntoroko District in western Uganda.

The insects, which were previously a reserve of Masaka Town in central Uganda, are now being harvested from Kalukutu in Ntoroko District in western Uganda.

The delicacy, which is eaten in Uganda and known to originate from Masaka district, has not only shifted to Western Uganda but also left the residents at a loss as they had purchased equipment that was to be used for harvesting the grasshoppers (Nsenene).

According to the Daily Monitor, passenger service vehicles and other saloon cars laden with sacks of grasshoppers (Nsenene) were seen speeding towards Uganda’s capital, Kampala, along Mubende-Fort Portal Road on November 22, 2023.

They further stated that one of the drivers stated that a 25-kg sack costs Shs180,000.
