The tragic incident took place in Ryakafuni Village, Katinda Parish, Nyakishana sub-county, Buhweju District.
The spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, Marcial Tumusiime, confirmed the event and provided details of the unfortunate occurrence. Nkirirehi, a resident of Ryakafuni Village, was reportedly assaulted on November 29, 2023, around 5:00 PM while returning home from Katinda trading center.
Tumusiime conveyed that Nkirirehi had left his home to photocopy documents for his wife, Kemigisha Angela, who is a teacher. Having completed his task, he was on his way home when he was confronted by unidentified attackers.
Benson Nkabakorera, a 30-year-old resident, discovered Nkirirehi lying on the roadside with severe injuries to his right thigh. Despite immediate transport to a clinic in Katinda trading center, Nkirirehi did not survive his injuries.
The police have identified a suspect, Nicholas Beinomugisha, a 35-year-old builder residing in the same area. The motive behind Beinomugisha’s assault on Nkirirehi remains unclear at this point.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to Nsiika Health Center IV for a postmortem examination. The police investigation is ongoing, with officers actively gathering evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder.
