Expressing disappointment with the leadership of Lyantonde District, Rwamirama attributed the FMD outbreak to the opening of Kyemamba Market and warned that it has spread to other districts.

Additionally, he highlighted isolated cases of Anthrax in Rakai District, cautioning against consuming meat from deceased animals due to the associated health risks.

Rwamirama emphasized the prohibition of consuming meat from dead animals and underscored the need for preventive measures to curb the spread of FMD. He warned farmers and traders about the significant impact of FMD not only on animals but also on markets, especially exports, urging the avoidance of unnecessary animal movements.

The minister assured that the government is dedicated to investing more in preventive measures, pursuing a one-health concept to ensure Ugandan animals meet international trade standards.

Encouraging the public to enhance their livelihoods through farming, Rwamirama urged participation in government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM). He sees this as an opportunity for the government to allocate funds to lower administrative units at the parish level, encouraging all Ugandans to utilize this opportunity for the betterment of their lives.
