Information gathered from usually dependable eyewitnesses that the renewed attacks which were unprovoked started last Monday with the killing of three innocent persons.
The source further added that the killings continued up to Wednesday and Sunday with about 9 persons losing their lives.
The fleeing eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said apart from invading houses, the attackers blocked Anyiin, Iorza and Gbeji roads in broad daylight, killing more people and collecting various sums of money from helpless villagers.
He called on the Benue State Government to provide security for the defenseless people of Anyiin and its environs who are currently under severe attack.
According to him, the herdsmen carried out the attacks on a daily basis in the last two weeks without interruption from security operatives.
Confirming the attacks while speaking with journalists, the Benue State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Sewuese Anene, said the command had deployed personnel to maintain peace in the troubled communities and called on affected people to remain calm.
