A 52-year-old man has been accused of committing adultery with his step-sister, a newly-wed bride named Ms. Christine Kabugho. The incident took place at Wanamahika Lodge in Kabuyire Cell, Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council, Kasese district. The Chairperson of Local Council Three, Mr. Selevest Mapoze, who also serves as the head of CANA in the Diocese of Kasese, expressed disapproval of the act and urged married couples to uphold their vows.
In a separate incident, a 60-year-old man, Mr. Joseph Katsumba, a support staff at Kitswamba SDA Primary School, has been arrested in Kitswamba town council on allegations of defiling a 13-year-old minor. Mr. John Wakighoma, the area Local Council Three chairperson, confirmed the information, while the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kasese District in Charge of Busongora County, Mr. Zephanus Mubingwa, stated that the suspect will be transferred to Hima Division Police for further investigations.
The Catholic Church strongly condemns adultery and defilement. As of now, no official comment has been made by the police regarding the incidents. If found guilty, the suspects will face appropriate legal consequences as an example in Kasese district.
