Bobi Wine Alleges Last-Minute Disinvitation from Busoga Royal Wedding

On Sunday, Bobi Wine conveyed his disappointment at being barred from attending the historic wedding in Busoga. The opposition leader revealed that he had received a public invitation from the Katukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga and had even made arrangements to return to Uganda by November 17 specifically to attend the event. However, at the last minute, he claimed to have been informed that an order from President Museveni, his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and their security prevented him from participating.

Expressing his frustration, Bobi Wine mentioned that he had prepared a brand-new suit for the occasion but was unable to wear it due to the sudden restriction. Despite the setback, he conveyed his affection for Busoga, stating that he would wear the suit on his next visit to the region.

Bobi Wine emphasized that he returned from his overseas trip with the intention of attending the wedding, highlighting the disappointment of being unable to do so. He cited the presence of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a reason for the restriction imposed on him.

During a remembrance event for the tragic Kampala Riots in November 2020, where over 50 people lost their lives, Bobi Wine made these remarks. Despite the personal setback, he extended warm wishes to the Busoga royal family and the community, congratulating them on the significant union.

In his statement, Bobi Wine conveyed his congratulations to the Kyabazinga and Mama on the momentous occasion. He extended well wishes to the people of Busoga, expressing hope for the King and Queen to have a joyful and prosperous marriage.
