Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | A Baby Coach Company bus conductor, Farida Nabakooza (38), has been apprehended on allegations of trafficking refugee children to Eastern DR Congo with the intent of recruiting them into a newly formed rebel group. The arrest, conducted on November 6, 2023, occurred while Nabakooza was transporting five refugee children from Nakivale refugee resettlement camp to Eastern DR Congo, where they were intended to join a rebel group led by one Irweneko.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, disclosed that two of the victims managed to escape from Nabakooza during the journey to DR Congo. In a separate development, Abdul Rashid Kyoto, also known as Njovu, an Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebel commander recently arrested in connection to the murder of foreign tourists at Queen Elizabeth National Park, is facing multiple charges. The charges, sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), include two counts of terrorism, three counts of aggravated murder, three counts of aggravated robbery, and one charge of belonging to a terrorist organization.

As the country approaches the festive season, the police are urging the public, especially those involved in financial services such as village banks and SACCOs, to exercise heightened vigilance with clients. This caution comes in response to a surge in aggravated robbery cases reported across the country.
