In Jinja, the committee overseeing Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV’s royal wedding with Ms. Jovia Mutesi announced that they raised Shs304 million during the wedding launch meetings over the weekend.

Committee chairperson Mr. Patrick Batumbya revealed the successful cash collection to kickstart the fundraising efforts, with Bugabula and Bunha chiefdoms expected to make significant contributions to the wedding.

The grand wedding is scheduled for November 18 at Bugembe Christ’s Cathedral in Jinja North City Division, with a reception at the kingdom headquarters in Bugembe on the same day. Smaller venues within the district are also arranged for additional options.

Mr. Joseph Muvawala, the Katuukiro of the Kingdom, encouraged contributions from well-wishers, particularly the Basoga, to support the wedding and dispel misconceptions about the Busoga Sub-region’s wealth.

During the wedding launch event, Ms. Rebecca Kadaga, the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, emphasized the need for responsible fund management to avoid negative reactions from contributors with ulterior motives. She urged the committee to make Kyabazinga’s wedding the “wedding of the century.”

The 23-member committee includes prominent government figures such as Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, the KCCA Executive Director, and Ms. Milly Babalanda, the Minister for the Presidency.
