Kampala, Uganda | The Black Examiner – The Forum for Democratic Change Party (FDC) has taken a decisive step by relieving Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda of his role as Parliamentary Chief Whip. This unexpected move comes amidst a backdrop of escalating tensions within the party’s leadership, with Ssemujju being swiftly replaced by Yusuf Nsibambi, the Member of Parliament representing Mawokota South.

In a press release issued on August 7th, 2023, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Secretary General of the FDC, officially announced the immediate withdrawal of Ssemujju from his position. The announcement sent shockwaves through the political landscape as the party navigates a critical juncture. The statement by Mafabi has been meticulously distributed to key figures including the Speaker’s office, Ssemujju himself, the opposition chief whip, and the newly appointed Yusuf Nsibambi.

Curiosity surrounding this unexpected upheaval led Nile Post to seek clarification from Yusuf Nsibambi. However, the inquiries were met with silence, leaving observers eager to unravel the full scope of these unfolding developments.

What intensifies the intrigue is the longstanding and tumultuous relationship between Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and Nathan Nandala Mafabi. Their ongoing power struggle has cast a shadow over the party’s operations, with the internal conflict undermining FDC’s cohesion and diverting attention away from its core mission.

Allegations of corruption, allegations of party mismanagement, and claims of clandestine negotiations with President Museveni have reverberated within FDC’s corridors, exacerbating the already strained relations between Ssemujju and Mafabi. This high-stakes power struggle has not only raised questions about the party’s internal dynamics but has also opened a window into the complex interplay of political forces at play.
