  • Gulu University’s guild president, Okot Francis, secured victory as the new president of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA), defeating five opponents during the assembly held at Kyankwanzi.

Okot Francis, the guild president of Gulu University, has emerged as the recently elected president of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA).

His victory took place on the night of Saturday, December 30th, 2023, during the UNSA general assembly held at Kyankwanzi. Okot secured the presidency by triumphing over five other candidates, including Babinga Gozan Wilson, the current speaker at Makerere University, with Okot receiving 217 votes while Gozan came in second with 149 votes.

The torchbearer of the trusted slogan “The Redemption you can trust” will assume the position previously held by Bill Clinton from Mbarara University.

In the vice president position, Gold Ikyiriza of Makerere University successfully retained the position by defeating rivals Atyang Anna Mary and Halera Alex.

Wasswa Christopher, the guild president of MUBS, was elected as the speaker, with Niwasiima Sandrine serving as his deputy. The newly appointed secretary general is Muhumza Edwine, who will be assisted by Atuhairwe Domitira.
