Rubanda East County legislator, Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, has assembled a delegation of approximately 20 individuals from various sectors. They are set to meet with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House to offer an apology for their involvement in the recent iron sheets scandal. Musasizi faced criticism for diverting 200 pieces of iron sheets, originally intended for vulnerable individuals in Karamoja, which were labeled ‘Office of the Prime Minister.’
Minister Musasizi, who was appointed as the State Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in charge of General Duties on June 8, 2021, has been accused of undermining government programs aimed at benefiting the people of Kigezi.
One instance of this was his opposition to the creation of ‘Kabale City,’ which led to the formation of the ‘Kabale City Claim Forum.’ Musasizi announced a halt to Kabale’s city status, but the Ministry of Local Government denied any official communication regarding a change in the resolution of Parliament approving city creation.
Residents have accused Musasizi of being discriminatory, particularly in his representation of constituents. He previously made statements indicating his focus on Catholic voters and claimed exclusive ownership of government programs.
Tomorrow, on October 12, 2023, Minister Musasizi, who also serves as the NRM Chairman for Rubanda District, is expected to lead a delegation to State House, including Cyril Mugyengyi, a businessman in Rubanda District, and Peter Niwagaba, a prominent businessman in Kabale Town, to extend their apology to President Museveni.
