Moroto District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The distribution of iron sheets to the reformed Karimojong rustlers has been officially initiated by the government. Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, along with Karamoja MPs and State Minister for Karamoja Agness Nadutu, flagged off a total of 97,555 iron sheets for 3,752 beneficiaries across the Karamoja region from Namave on Wednesday. Notably, Minister Nadutu is currently facing trial in the high court for diverting the initial batch of iron sheets intended for the region.
Remigio Achia, the Member of Parliament for Pian County in Nabilatuk district, emphasized their vigilant monitoring of the iron sheets’ transportation, expressing hope that they would reach their destination without any issues. The transportation is facilitated using UPDF military trucks, with each district receiving a truck loaded with iron sheets.
Upon learning about the iron sheets’ disbursement, the reformed Karimojong rustlers, the intended recipients, expressed their excitement. However, they sternly warned the implicated ministers, accused of diverting the first batch, not to set foot in the region during the distribution.

“We don’t want the two ministers to claim they are witnessing the distribution of the iron sheets in Karamoja because they are more like thieves than us,” remarked one of the beneficiaries. Meanwhile, a resident named Paul Lokut praised the leaders for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the successful delivery of iron sheets to Karamoja.
