Summary:

  • Konshens, the “Gal A Bubble” singer, pays tribute to the late Mowzey Radio at his grave in Uganda, expressing gratitude and anticipation for an energetic performance, while also discreetly sidestepping questions about his recent copyright victory against Airtel Uganda.

Accompanied by his entourage, the singer of “Gal A Bubble” was chauffeured directly to Kagga, Nakawuka, in Wakiso district, the site of Mowzey Radio’s grave.

Mowzey Radio, born Moses Ssekiboggo, tragically passed away on February 1, 2018, following a distressing bar altercation.

Expressing her gratitude, Radio’s mother, Miss Kasubo, warmly welcomed Konshens, stating, “God continues to strengthen me gradually. I am pleased to see someone coming from afar to remember him (Radio). It gives me hope that people still remember me and my son.”

Speaking upon his arrival at the airport, Konshens shared his expectations for the upcoming performance, eagerly anticipating the vibrant atmosphere for which Ugandan audiences are renowned.

“Uganda has been one of the countries that launched my career beyond the diaspora, and the energy level has always been off the charts. So I expect nothing less,” enthused the Jamaican artist.

Konshens emphasized that his tribute to Mowzey Radio is rooted in energy and respect, acknowledging the profound impact the late singer had on the Ugandan music scene. His last performance in Uganda was in 2015 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval alongside Busy Signal.

Notably, Konshens returns to Uganda four months after prevailing in a copyright suit against telecom operator Airtel Uganda. The High Court, in August 2023, ruled that Airtel was liable for copyright infringement, emphasizing the unjust enrichment through the distribution of songs without remitting proceeds to the artist.

When questioned about the matter, Konshens chose not to comment, stating, “I don’t want to talk about that yet. Right now, it’s about good energy, and that’s really what I’m focusing on. I’m just happy to be here and I’m just soaking that up.”
