Meanwhile, Dr. Jino Abiriga’s lifeless body was transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination after being found near his residence in Kijura North Cell, Central Division, Masindi Municipality. The doctor had sustained injuries to the neck and back, indicating a violent attack.

Cosmas Byaruhanga, the Masindi district LCV Chairman, described Abiriga as a symbol of Masindi General Hospital, emphasizing his dedication to the hospital throughout his life.

Residents expressed their grief, with Kanaginagi Ateenyi Rutindo, Masindi District Vice Chairperson for the National Resistance Movement, highlighting Dr. Abiriga’s pivotal role in his life. Others, like Chrysostom Abigaba and Eriab Komugisa, praised Abiriga as a good neighbor and irreplaceable leader, urging the government to enhance security for top district officials and health workers.

Ogenyi Morris, the team leader at Alpha Action for Social and Economic Development, called for increased security in the district to prevent such incidents. He paid tribute to Dr. Abiriga’s passion, commitment, and wholehearted service to the community, condemning the heinous act that led to the loss of a valuable leader.
