Mitooma Police Probes Apparent Drowning Suicide

Mitooma District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Police in Mitooma District are currently delving into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of a 40-year-old man, Rwamasika Rodgers, who is reported to have taken his own life through drowning. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, has officially confirmed this distressing incident.

The deceased, identified as a resident of Rumumba cell in Kilembe Parish, Katenga sub-county, Mitooma District, was discovered on December 8, 2023. Anthony, a resident at the same address, stumbled upon Rodgers’ lifeless body floating in the Katereza River, which serves as the boundary between Mitooma and Bushenyi Districts. Swiftly responding to the shocking discovery, Anthony reported the incident to Kanyeihamba Deogratias, a 66-year-old individual recognized as the deceased’s father. Subsequently, Deogratias reported the matter to the local police.

Marcial Tumusiime, said that a plastic bottle containing waragi, a local alcoholic beverage, was discovered near a wooden bridge located a short distance from Rodgers’ body. Further examination revealed a minor scratch on the deceased’s right shoulder. In response to these findings, the authorities have transported Rodgers’ body to Kitagata Hospital in Sheema District for a thorough postmortem examination.

The investigation into this tragic incident is currently in progress, with authorities diligently working to uncover any additional details that may shed light on the circumstances leading to Rodgers’ untimely death. The comprehensive inquiry aims to provide a clearer understanding of the events surrounding this unfortunate incident and to determine if any external factors contributed to the apparent suicide.
