Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended congratulations to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) for their successful operation in apprehending the suspected ADF rebel leader and eliminating several others along Lake Albert in Kasese District last week. Through his official X account on Sunday, President Museveni commended the UPDF for their relentless pursuit of those responsible for violent acts, including the tragic killing of two tourists, their Ugandan driver, and students of Lhubiriha Secondary School. The violence also involved the destruction of a Fuso Truck loaded with onions, targeting parked trucks in Kasiindi, on the Congo side of the border.

President Museveni expressed gratitude to the Congo Government for permitting the elimination of these criminals from Eastern Congo. Despite the successful capture of the commander, Njovu, who was injured during the operation, seven other suspected ADF rebels remain at large. President Museveni conveyed confidence that they would be brought to justice soon. He acknowledged the security forces’ efforts but noted that some gaps in the Marines’ performance needed attention. Furthermore, the President disclosed that the forces had delayed in checking a crippled boat until morning, allowing seven individuals to escape, as it was their first time engaging in a water-based conflict. President Museveni concluded by revealing that Njovu, one of the attackers, was found in possession of an identification card belonging to Eric Alyai, the driver of the tourists killed inside Queen Elizabeth National Park on October 17.
