Summary:

  • The Bishop of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza has made 25 years a Bishop and 40 years a Priest.

The Right Reverend Christopher Kakooza, serving as the Bishop of Lugazi diocese, commemorated 25 years as a Bishop and 40 years as a Priest during today’s diocesan day celebrations at Lugazi Cathedral.

Bishop Kakooza, 71, was ordained as a priest on June 3, 1983, at St. Mbaaga’s Major Seminary, Ggaba, as part of the seminary’s inaugural class. His episcopal journey began when he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala and Titular Bishop of Casae in Numidia on January 2, 1999.

In a humble gesture, Bishop Kakooza announced that he would not host elaborate celebrations. Instead, he plans to merge his jubilee with the upcoming diocesan day on February 23, 2025, to streamline contributions, considering the financial needs for the June 3rd Uganda Martyrs’ day celebrations in 2025 at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo.

He requested prayers for the forthcoming celebrations.
