Men in the Bugisu region are being urged to take an active role in sexual and reproductive health services to promote gender equality in family planning. Mr. William Nyombi, Director of Service Delivery at Marie Stopes, made this call during the launch of their new premises on Naboa Road in Mbale City.
Mr. Nyombi emphasized the importance of engaging men in family planning methods suitable for them, encouraging the use of the various options available. This shift aims to share the responsibility of family planning, making it easier for families to plan together.
Ms. Kakai Harriet, Mbale City Deputy Mayor, and Marie Stopes staff members at the launch echoed Nyombi’s sentiments, encouraging the community to embrace family planning methods for better child-rearing practices.
Nyombi clarified that the health facility offers more than just family planning, providing general medical consultation services, circumcision, scanning, immunization, vaccination, reproductive health services, cervical cancer screening, and post-abortion care.
By promoting male participation in family planning, Marie Stopes aims to foster gender equality and support families in making informed choices about their reproductive health, ultimately building a healthier and more responsible community.
