Mr. Richard Nsuube, the EC’s deputy public relations officer, stated, “We are fully prepared; materials have been dispatched to the district and will be sent to polling stations tomorrow.” He added that stakeholders are meeting in Dokolo to address any outstanding issues, with polling officials ready for deployment.
The EC emphasized adherence to election laws and guidelines to prevent violence and urged prompt reporting of any irregularities on polling day.
The main contenders for the seat are Dr. Rosemary Alwoch of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Ms. Harriet Ageno of the National Unity Platform (NUP), and Ms. Janet Rose Adongo Elau Okello of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Other candidates include Ms. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori of the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC), and independent candidates Dr. Esther Akullo Obot Otada and Ms. Rebecca Arao. Dokolo has 173 polling stations and over 93,700 registered voters.
Each candidate brings a unique profile and vision for Dokolo’s future. Dr. Alwoch aims to continue her late mother’s initiatives, focusing on local and national development projects. Ms. Aguti prioritizes education and essential services, while Ms. Adongo Elau intends to improve healthcare infrastructure and collaborate with other leaders.
Ms. Arao seeks to unite the community, drawing inspiration from the late Cecilia Atim Ogwal’s inclusive approach. Dr. Akullo emphasizes land issues and community conflicts, leveraging her experience in the private sector and civic engagement.
Ms. Ageno, with a background in public health, champions human rights and representation for the people of Dokolo.
