Former MP Gutomoi, Three others die in car crash!

Charles Angiro Gutomoi, the former Member of Parliament for Erute North in Lira District, along with three other individuals, died on sport in a devastating road accident. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Ayago, located on the Karuma-Olwiyo-Pakwach-Nebbi road. The driver of the vehicle carrying the victims lost control, causing it to overturn multiple times.

Reports from Nebbi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Robert Abak, indicate that the victims were en route to a traditional marriage ceremony at Unjuku ward in Nebbi Municipality. “Three individuals perished on the spot, while the injured have been promptly transported to a nearby health center in Nwoya District. The current number of passengers in the vehicle and the vehicle type are yet to be confirmed,” stated Mr. Abak.

Confirming the tragic news, Mr. Paul Omara, the MP for Otuke County and Onywal Ipyeda deputy clan head, sent a message to his fellow MPs, saying, “Colleagues, it is with deep sadness that I announce the death of Hon Angiro Gutomoi Abac Acon, who died in a motor accident this morning near Olwiyo on the road to Nebbi. I have been informed that they were traveling in a Noah car, which overturned, resulting in the death of four individuals at the scene.”

Charles Angiro Gutomoi Abac Acon served as the Awitong clan head of Onywal Ipyeda clan and was a respected legislator in the 10th Parliament. The police are currently conducting investigations into the exact cause of the accident while also engaging in rescue operations to save any remaining survivors.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, expressed his condolences, highlighting Gutomoi’s commitment to issues such as education, health, and rural development during his tenure as a legislator. “Very sad to learn of the death of Hon Angiro Gutomoi Abac Acon, who died in a motor accident this morning near Olwiyo on the road to Nebbi. I have been informed that they were traveling in a Noah, which overturned, resulting in the death of four individuals at the scene. Gutomoi was the Awitong Clan Head of Onywal Ipyeda Clan. He was also the former MP for Erute North Constituency in the 10th Parliament. In the August House, Hon. Gutomoi was known for his passion on issues of education, health, and rural development, among others. My condolences go out to the families of the victims of this fatal accident,” tweeted Mr. Tayebwa on Saturday morning.
