Indian National Arrested over 900m Theft at Hoima Sugar Factory

HOIMA, (Examiner) – Hoima Police have apprehended an Indian national suspected of burglarizing the Hoima Sugar Factory and making off with more than 900 million Ugandan shillings. Acting on calls from the RPC and DPC of Kikuube Central Police Station, the K-9 unit was dispatched to investigate reports of an office break-in and cash theft at the Hoima Sugar Factory (Kiswaza).

Upon arrival, the area was found properly secured and preserved. Police Constable Bahati deployed the police dog, Parry, at the scent bed, which promptly picked up a trail, initiating a search operation.

Parry tracked the scent for approximately 400 meters, ultimately leading the police to a residence where an Indian individual was located, signaling the presence of something suspicious.

A thorough search, conducted by the D/SOCO and D/CID, resulted in the recovery of 21 million Ugandan shillings. The suspect was then identified and handed over to the district CID for further interrogation and investigation.
