KAMPALA, (Examiner) – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda held a crucial meeting with Malik Agar, Special Envoy and Deputy Chairperson of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council. The meeting, which took place at the State Lodge in Nakasero on Saturday, focused on addressing the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Sudan has been embroiled in a devastating conflict since April 2023, sparked by internal divisions among military factions. Efforts to integrate armed groups have faltered, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Millions face severe food shortages, both within Sudan and among refugees in neighboring countries.

President Museveni and Envoy Agar discussed frameworks aimed at resolving the conflict and stabilizing Sudan. International mediation attempts have thus far been unsuccessful, underscoring the urgency of finding viable solutions to alleviate the suffering of millions affected by the crisis.

The meeting underscores Uganda’s commitment to regional stability and its role in facilitating dialogue towards peace in Sudan. As efforts continue, the international community remains vigilant in supporting initiatives that promote peace and stability in the region.
