MUKONO, (Examiner) – Holy Cross Family Ministries (HCFM) Uganda, a Catholic faith-based organization for families believes that this generation can be transformed through school contests that encourage young people to express their faith.
This was while closing the annual Try Prayer! It works as a contest that encourages students to express their faith through art, song composition, essay writing and poetry.
This year’s contest was held at Sharing Hall Nsambya under the theme “One Eucharistic Family” where about 20 Catholic schools including; St Lawrence SS Ssonde Namugongo, St Peters SS Nsambya, Our Lady of Africa Mukono Campus, St Joseph SS Naggalama, Ageno Rose Mercy, Mt Olive College Kakiri, and Our Lady Queen of Africa Rubaga Girls among others participated.

Fr John Baptist Nsubuga, the Director Holy Cross Family Ministry (HCFM) says through these contests, their intentions are to strengthen the youth in faith so that they avoid involving in behaviors that could ruin their lives in the future.
He further says that they also intend to inspire young people and their families to welcome the presence of God and the Holy Family into their lives.
Our Lady of Africa SS Mukono became the overall champion for this year’s contes and also won three other categories of Best Composed Song, Best Poem and Best Drama while St Kizito SS Bugolobi became the First Runners Up.
Jovan Kanyike, a student at Our Lady of Africa SS Mukono who also won the Best Actor for this year’s contest appealed to schools to encourage students to participate in such contests to discover and promote their talents.
