Private Guards Charged with Threatening Violence Against Senior Officials

  • Six guards from Wolves Security Company have been charged with threatening to shoot several senior officials, including a geologist and police officers, in Rubanda District. Their bail was denied, and they were remanded to Ndorwa prison until July 18.

KAMPALA, (Examiner) – Six security guards from Wolves Security Company have been charged with seven counts of threatening violence after allegedly attempting to shoot high-ranking officials in Rubanda District. The court session, presided over by Kabale grade one magistrate Julius Mutabazi, heard from prosecutor Ms. Rachael Nkwanzi that the incident occurred on June 20 in Butare-Katijo town council.

The accused guards reportedly threatened the following officials:

  • Ms. Nyamutoro: Geologist at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development
  • Ms. Allen Ndyanabo: Police liaison officer in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development
  • SP Bernard Katwalo: Zonal mineral police for Kigezi region
  • ASP Nesterio Kiiza
  • ASP Solomon Okello
  • PC Asilu Kassim
  • Joseph Obete

The suspects include:

  • Mr. Norbert Okurboth, 35, branch in charge of Kisoro and Rubanda districts
  • Robert Mucunguzi, 25
  • Anthony Niwagaba, 20
  • Hassan Oman, 25
  • Deus Kiiza, 27
  • Matias Kajugo, 58

Their bail application was denied due to the lack of sureties. Magistrate Mutabazi ordered the suspects to be remanded to Ndorwa government prison until their next court appearance on July 18, with witness summons issued for that date.
