Brigadier General Stephen Kiggundu, the Deputy Commander of UPDF Air Force, died in his bathroom on Easter Sunday in Entebbe. He previously served as Squad commander of Uganda’s fighter jets.
The UPDF announced the untimely demise of Brigadier General Stephen Kigundu on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his official residence in Entebbe.
“Brigadier General Kigundu was well all day until the evening of today when he met his death in his bathroom,” said Defence Spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye.
Born on April 3, 1977, at Bugonga, Brigadier General Stephen Kiggundu joined the UPDF on July 27, 1999, in Hoima.
He underwent training as a paratrooper in Israel and received skills in Pilot Air Force management and Operations, Pilot Combat Trainer, and Junior Command Tactics.
Additionally, Kiggundu attended the conversion pilots course at Air Command Staff College in the United States.
“The UPDF fraternity and Uganda Peoples’ Defence Air force will miss Brigadier General Kigundu at this time when his services were most needed to continue strengthening our Air force capabilities. Our condolences go to the General’s family, UPDAF fraternity, and the entire UPDF,” said Kulayigye.
