Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Uganda has donated UGX 30 million (approximately $8,000) in support of the upcoming Busoga royal wedding scheduled for November 18, 2023, in Bugembe. The cash was presented by the NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong, to Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the Katukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga Kingdom, during a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.
Todwong expressed the NRM’s gratitude for the hospitality of the Busoga Kingdom and its role in fostering unity within Uganda. He recognized Busoga as a melting pot, where people from various ethnic backgrounds come together to contribute to the nation’s development.
The NRM leader also commended the Kyabazinga (King) for his support of government-led poverty alleviation initiatives.
In response, Dr. Muvawala thanked the NRM for its respect for Busoga’s rich cultural heritage and its significant contribution to the forthcoming royal wedding. He emphasized the importance of harnessing the cultural sentiments associated with such events and expressed the kingdom’s expectation that the NRM would leverage these emotions for the betterment of both the party and the nation.
The Busoga royal wedding, which will unite Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV and Jovia Mutesi, is scheduled to take place at Christ’s Cathedral Church in Bugembe on November 18, 2023.
