Kasese, Uganda | The Black Examiner – In the ongoing validation exercise, Mr. Elias Byamungu, the District Chief Administrative Officer, has made a startling revelation – the discovery of over ninety suspected ghost civil servants in Kasese.
These phantom workers, as Mr. Byamungu disclosed, encompassed a range of discrepancies. Some occupied their positions illegally, while others simply did not exist or were perennially absent from their government duties.
Speaking to Kasese Guide Radio at the Mayors’ Garden in Kasese Municipality, Mr. Byamungu made it clear that he would not shy away from future scrutiny against corruption. He also stated that certain categories of these ghost workers would be referred to the police for investigations and subsequently brought before the courts to face the consequences of their actions.
When questioned about recent transfers that had stirred controversy, Mr. Byamungu urged local leaders and the community to hold civil servants accountable while carrying out their roles. He emphasized the importance of tolerance and urged political leaders not to create obstacles that might obstruct the efficient use of human resources.
Mr. Byamungu concluded by asserting that the days of retaining absentee and unproductive civil servants on the government payroll were numbered. He emphasized that these individuals must fulfill their job requirements or face consequences.
