During the summit, Secretary Manalo expressed the Philippines’ full support for Uganda’s chairmanship in the NAM for the period 2024-2027. He emphasized the country’s commitment to enhancing relations with African nations and other participants in the NAM.
In his departure statement, Secretary Manalo stated, “The Philippines eagerly anticipates the opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties with African counterparts and other NAM member countries. Additionally, we aim to foster collaboration and mutual support in various multilateral forums, including our pursuit of a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for the term 2027-2028.”
Highlighting the significance of the trip, he remarked, “This visit provides an excellent platform to engage with nations from Africa and beyond, fostering South-South cooperation. It serves as a means to advance the shared interests and perspectives of developing countries, contributing to the establishment of a more inclusive, equitable, and just international economic order in the 21st century.”
