Kagadi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The territorial police in Albertine and Kagadi have successfully arrested seven individuals believed to be members of a notorious criminal gang responsible for a series of armed robberies and attacks in Kagadi district over the past two months.

This operation, which was conducted in Muhorro town council, culminated in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition, and six sets of military camouflage clothing from the suspects’ hideout.

The six individuals in custody include Pte Kato Ivan, a 34-year-old army deserter; Aliganyira Richard, a 34-year-old hailing from Khumbi village in Kyenjojo district; Fina Patrick, a 34-year-old barber from Kahungabunyonyi in Fort Portal city; Luweza Chris, a 25-year-old bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) rider from Rwengoma cell in Fort Portal; Kyaligonza Yasin, also known as “Boy,” a 26-year-old from Kyakasana village in Kagadi district; Agaba Januarious, a 26-year-old manager of Service Point Bar in Nyamariga cell in Kagadi district; and Katushabe Natasha, a 19-year-old barmaid at Service Point Bar.

The ringleader of this criminal network is believed to be the army deserter, Pte Kato Ivan, and their operations were predominantly focused on Kagadi district. They had been using Service Point Bar as their primary meeting point, planning zone, and hideout both before and after their criminal activities, and it was discovered that they had the bar owner’s cooperation.

The recovered firearm and ammunition are currently undergoing examination by ballistic experts to determine if they are linked to any other criminal activities. Further investigations are also underway to ascertain whether members of the public fell victim to this criminal gang.
