Muhindo is under the Anti-Stock Theft Unit team deployed to fight cattle rustlers in Karamoja sub-region. “We would like as ASTU management to apologize to populace and law abiding citizens residing in Chepsekunya for the inconvenience and fear instilled in them by Muhindo Ivan, a Police Constantable attached to Chepsikunya ASTU zonal Headquarters out of a bar brawl within the trading centre in Chepsikunya,” AIP Mike Longole the Mt Moroto regional police spokesperson said.

Police have also received reports that as Muhindo returned to the zone, he picked a PK machine gun loaded with 200 rounds and started shooting indiscriminately at the citizens he is meant to protect without taking due care and following conditions to which a police officer may resort to the use of a firearm.

“To mend the existing relationship and create confidence that Police as an institution does not condone indiscipline amongst its serving officers, an open disciplinary court was instituted today 20.9.2023 against PC Wabwire Ivan and recommended him to be dismissed from Uganda Police Force with disgrace,” AIP Longole said.

ASTU management in Karamoja is now waiting to receive a confirmation from police officially dismissing Muhindo from the police force. The final dismissal letter has to come from police headquarters in Kampala.

“We advice the scared populace to return to their homes and carryout their daily bussiness as usual,” AIP Longole said.
