Bushenyi | The Black Examiner – Bushenyi Ishaka municipality continues to grapple with a recurring issue as domestic animals roam freely through the town’s streets despite stern warnings from local authorities. The sight of these animals loitering along roadsides and congregating in front of shops remains a persistent problem.

In an interview with our correspondent, Steven Karuti, the Chairman of LC3 Central Division, expressed the challenges faced by the municipality in its efforts to enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal. Karuti highlighted that the unhindered movement of these domestic animals impedes beautification initiatives. Moreover, concerns from commuters have risen, as the stray animals disrupt traffic flow and pose health risks to the residents.

Karuti emphasized that it has become commonplace for the owners of these animals to allow them unrestricted movement throughout various streets within the town. He cautioned these individuals about the impending consequences of potential arrests and legal actions.

Julius Byamukama, the Health Inspector of Bushenyi Ishaka municipality, confirmed that law enforcement officers have been directed to take immediate action against the proliferation of stray animals. Stricter measures include impounding these animals and imposing fines on their owners. Byamukama appealed to town residents who engage in farming activities to adopt indoor methods for animal grazing to mitigate the issue.
