Luwero District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Police in Luwero town are hunting for a man who allegedly raped and killed his stepdaughter following a misunderstanding with his wife.

The suspect, Christopher Ssesanga is accused of raping and killing Shirat Nakijjwe, a 16-year-old senior two-student at Midland High School. The deceased has been living with her mother Margaret Nankya, a resident of Kizito Zone in Luwero town council.

Ruth Nankumba, the vice chairperson of Kizito zone narrates that Ssesanga developed a misunderstanding which ended his relationship with Nankya. He reportedly took advantage of Nankya’s absence to attack the step-daughter on Friday night.

He left behind a note threatening to hunt down Nankya and equally end her life. Nankumba says that the mother learnt about the death after returning home from an overnight vigil she had gone to.

Yusuf Kalemera, a neighbour says that the deceased was found half-naked lying on the bed alongside a note left behind by the killer. Kalemera says that Nankya had received several death threats after ending her love affair with Ssesanga but she never took them seriously.

A team from Luwero Central police station transferred the body to the mortuary at Mulago referral hospital for postmortem. Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twineamazima says that the police have recorded a statement from the mother of the deceased and the hunt for the suspect has kicked off.
