Kasese, Uganda | The Black Examiner – The Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) commenced its highly anticipated July/August assessment session, but not without facing a few unexpected hurdles. As students who are retaking papers geared up for the crucial exams, disruptions arose due to complications with the examination codes.

This morning, the media witnessed a flurry of concerns pouring in from various examination centers, all grappling with the perplexing issue of examination codes. The center officials were inundated with calls, highlighting the urgency of resolving the matter.

Speaking to The Black Examiner on the matter, Mr. Narasi Kambaho, the esteemed Principal Communications Officer of UBTEB, disclosed that the board had recently implemented changes to the codes assigned to certain papers. This move was aimed at achieving code harmonization, a necessary step following the introduction of the modular assessment system.

The alterations led to the reassignment of new codes to specific papers, which inadvertently posed challenges for students attempting to retake their examinations. While UBTEB had the best intentions to streamline the assessment process, the unanticipated disruptions have put the board under scrutiny.

At Rwenzori College of Commerce in Kasese Municipality, the examination kickoff proceeded smoothly, sparing the students any code-related issues. Mr. Moses Thembo Kithuthiro, the principal of the esteemed institution, conveyed his satisfaction with the students’ readiness for the exams. Thanks to thorough briefing sessions, the students are diligently adhering to the established regulations, ensuring a seamless examination experience.
