  • Express FC will not defend their Kagame Cup title due to financial constraints, leaving SC Villa as Uganda’s lone representative in the tournament.

Express Football Club has announced their withdrawal from the upcoming CECAFA Club Championship – Kagame Cup, scheduled to kick off on July 9, 2024, in Tanzania.

Despite initial aspirations to defend their championship title, clinched in the previous edition with a 1-0 victory over Nyasa Big Bullets, the club received notification on July 1, 2024, rescinding their invitation due to financial constraints.

As a result, SC Villa now stands as Uganda’s sole representative in the tournament, positioned in Group D alongside APR (Rwanda), Singanda Black Stars (Tanzania), and El-Merriekkh (South Sudan).
