US Secretary of State and Qatari PM Discuss Humanitarian Situation in Gaza Amid Israeli Military Operations

U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken engaged with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Amman, during a ministerial gathering with regional partners. The discussions primarily centered on the pressing humanitarian situation in Gaza, set against the backdrop of Israeli military operations targeting Hamas.

Secretary Blinken expressed his gratitude to the Qatari government for their pivotal efforts in securing the safe exit of U.S. citizens and foreign nationals from Gaza. The discussions also encompassed the successful release of hostages held by Hamas, including two U.S. citizens, and the ongoing initiatives aimed at preventing the escalation of the conflict.

The two leaders emphasized the paramount importance of safeguarding the well-being of civilians caught in the midst of the conflict. Additionally, they underscored the need for increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to support the Palestinian people in their time of need. The talks also revolved around the critical objective of ensuring that Palestinians are not forcibly displaced beyond the borders of Gaza, emphasizing the significance of preserving their ties to their homeland.
