Police in Kanungu District have arrested Martin Kamugisha, 30, for allegedly killing Brian Tumwesigyire, 26, in Bugongi Sub County.

The incident occurred when Kamugisha, reportedly provoked by a stone thrown by Tumwesigyire and others, retaliated with a fatal panga attack. The altercation happened in Murehe “B” village, Kakyinga Parish.

Police reports indicate that the confrontation took place around 11:00 PM on Friday. In retaliation, Kamugisha chased the assailants and delivered a deep cut to Tumwesigyire’s head. Both men sought medical attention for their injuries separately. Kamugisha reported an assault at Bugongi police post, while Tumwesigyire returned home without informing his family.

The following morning, Tumwesigyire’s parents discovered him in distress and rushed him to Kambuga Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.
